The International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP) is the only global organization for scholars in the field of intellectual property law with members from across Europe, the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. ATRIP was founded in 1980 to contribute to the advancement of teaching and research in the field of intellectual property law, with a focus on building capacity and fostering innovation in teachers and researchers. As an academic society, ATRIP members are researchers and doctoral students engaged in research and teaching at academic institutions worldwide. ATRIP is a global and vibrant community of academics in the field of intellectual property law.

The 2026 ATRIP Annual Congress | June 28 – July 1, 2026
The 2026 ATRIP Annual Congress will be held on June 28 – July 1, 2026, at the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
The theme of this year’s Congress is “Intellectual Property and Politics: From Power Relations to Realpolitik.”

ATRIP is an organisation of over 400 members from across the world including representatives from Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia and Oceania. ATRIP welcomes new membership applications from researchers, professors and PhD students in the field of intellectual property law.

The ATRIP Intellectual Property Series is published by Edward Elgar and features contributions from scholars around the world. Edited by the sitting President, each book in the series contains a diverse range of papers centered around the theme of each Annual Congress. Titles published since 2011 are listed below.
