Essay Competition 2022

The winners of the 2022 Essay Competition have been announced. The winners are:

First place is Léon Dijkman, PhD researcher, European University Institute, Leon.Dijkman@eui.eu with the essay called ¨Pairing Sturgeon with Champagne: towards a due cause exception in the law of geographical indications¨. Read the essay HERE

The second place is Artha Dermawan, doctoral student at the University of Lapland, Finland, supported by the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, Germany, Artha.Dermawan@ip.mpg.de, with an essay called “Text and Data Mining Exceptions in the Development of Generative AI Models: Whatthe EU Member States Could Learn from the Japanese ‘Non-Enjoyment’ Purposes? The third is Jasmin Brieske, PhD student at the chair for civil law and commercial law with a specific focus on international intellectual property law at Goethe University Frankfurt Brieske@jur.uni-frankfurt.de, with an essay called “Digital User Rights and Their Enforcement: What Is the Copyright Directive Asking For?” Read the essay HERE

ATRIP warmly congratulates the winners of this year’s competition and thanks all the authors of the submitted essays. The author of the first place will present its essay during the 2023 Congress in Tokyo.
