Application for Membership

A professor or researcher in intellectual property becomes a member of ATRIP by forwarding the following documents:

  1. the application form of the Association (see the online Application Form below); and
  2. a full cv (resume).

PhD candidates must also submit a letter from a university or similar institution at which they are enrolled confirming their enrollment and that their research topic is in the field of the law of intellectual property. PhD candidates will cease to be members if either (a) the PhD candidacy ceases or (b) upon completion of their degree they do not qualify as a member as a professor or researcher (e.g. a postdoctoral position). However, those who have completed their PhD and are actively seeking a position as researcher or professor may remain members upon providing in a timely manner evidence of relevant activities as the President may request from time to time.

The online form will be submitted automatically. The cv (resume) must be sent to the President of ATRIP by email at admin@atrip.org. The President will submit completed applications to the Executive Committee.  The President or Treasurer will inform the candidate of the Committee’s decision.

To remain an ATRIP member, a professor or researcher must pay annual dues (currently set at 50 euro).  Failure to pay these dues for three (3) consecutive years will lead to the automatic termination of the professor’s or researcher’s membership and removal from the Members’ list.

Pour devenir membre de l’ATRIP, un professeur ou chercheur en propriété intellectuelle pose sa candidature en acheminant les documents suivants:

  1. le formulaire de candidature de l’Association (voir le formulaire de demande en ligne ci-dessous); et
  2. un curriculum vitae.

Les doctorants doivent aussi envoyer une lettre de leur université confirmant (1) leur statut de doctorant et (2) que leur thèse porte sur un sujet dans le domaine de la propriété intellectuelle. Le membership d’un doctorant se terminera si ce doctorant abandonne le travail sur sa thèse  ou complète la thèse mais ne trouve pas, après une période raisonnable (celle-ci est déterminée par le Président compte tenu des circonstances), un emploi de professeur ou chercheur (p. ex. postdoc) dans le domaine de la propriété intellectuelle.

Le formulaire de candidature sera soumis au Président automatiquement par le système. Le cv (et, pour les doctorants, la lettre de confirmation) doit être envoyé par mail (courriel) à l’adresse admin@atrip.org. Le président de l’association transmet les demandes dûment complétées au Comité exécutif. Le Président ou le Trésorier informera le candidat de la décision du Comité.

Pour maintenir son statut de membre au sein de l’ATRIP, le professeur ou chercheur doit acquitter une cotisation annuelle de 50 euro.  Si cette cotisation demeure impayée pendant trois (3) années consécutives, le nom du professeur ou chercheur sera automatiquement rayé de la liste des membres de l’Association.
